UPDATE: Man faces attempted murder charge following shooting in Valley City

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - UPDATE: Valley City Police say an investigation is currently underway after one person is injured and another is now in jail. Authorities say both people know each and there is no general threat to the public.

The 31-year-old victim is recovering from injuries in a Fargo hospital. The suspect 26-year-old Alex Mooridian has been arrested and is awaiting a formal court appearance in Barnes County District Court for the charge of attempted murder.

The felony charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a fine of $20,000, or both.

Original: One person was injured Thursday night and another arrested in connection with a shooting in Valley City. Police say it happened just after seven in the 500 block of 11th Avenue Southwest. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the torso. That person was taken to the hospital in Valley City and then transported to a Fargo hospital. Police say there is no threat to the public. No names were released at this time.
