NEAR OTTERTAIL, Minn. (Valley News Live) - Authorities are investigating a train vs. semi crash in Otter Tail County.

An official with the county confirmed traffic was being detoured around Highway 78 between Perham and Ottertail because of the crash, which happened around 7:40 a.m. on Thursday, September 23.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says a tractor trailer was south on North Lake Street from Elevator Drive in Ottertail, and crossed the Canadian Pacific Railroad as a train was approaching.

The train hit the trailer of the semi. Inside the trailer was food grade restaurant supplies, which were scattered all over the area.

The driver of the semi was not hurt. The train conductor had minor injuries from the impact, but did not need medical attention. The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says charges are pending against the semi driver for unsafe railroad crossing.
